Strawberry Picking

For some reason school was out today...I really have no idea why...but I'll take it!! I was so excited not to have anywhere we needed to be today. Our play group was going to Chesterfield Berry Farm to go Strawberry picking so we went along. The kids had a BLAST picking and eating strawberries. You would think with the way the kids were eating strawberries they wouldn't have many strawberries to take home...WRONG...11 lbs. of strawberries later (they are in my fridge now, I really need to figure out what I'm going to do with all of them). Calee and Gavin filled their baskets and still managed to stuff themselves silly with strawberries. Brock is in love with strawberries and has been for quite some time...he couldn't believe his good luck to be in a field surrounded by one of his very favorite fruits. Brock would pinch the strawberries off and eat the squishy fruit out of his hands it was too funny...he soon got smart and realized he can take the already picked strawberries right out of Calee's and Gavin's baskets. The weather was perfect, the kids were loving life, I was loving it...We can't wait to go again (I guess we should work on the 11 lbs. of strawberries we have now first).

Brock the Rock!

Brock had his 15 month check up yesterday (4-23-08). He is still off the charts on height (34") and is in the 75% for weight (26 lbs. 4 oz.). Brock is learning so much lately and is such a happy fella. One thing he is really into right now is threading things (the little wooden toys you put a shoe lace through). Yesterday when he woke up from his nap I noticed he "threaded" his blanket into his crib bars, so after nap time we got out the real threading toys.

A Change in Plans...

Our day was supposed to be SUPER busy, running from soccer field to soccer field. The first activity was Calee's Gymnastics Team Exhibition at 9:45 until 10:25. Calee did great she has improved so much, and we are so proud of her. Off to the next engagement, Calee's soccer game at 10:30 (lucky for us it was at the same YMCA facility, just outside). Her game started off great, but only lasted 15 minutes we got rained out! Thus meaning Gavin's soccer game at 11:30 was cancelled as well. The YMCA was holding a "Healthy kids Day"(Calee's Gymnastics Team performed for "Healthy kids Day"), so we figured why not stay and have some fun. Hopefully next week it will be a clear day so Calee and Gavin can both play their soccer games.

Calee's Egypt Project

Calee had an Egypt project she needed to do for school, she decided to build a pyramid, easy enough right?....WRONG!! Turns out sugar cubes melt a lot faster than you would think once they are wet (our liquid that made them melt was plain old Elmer's glue). Calee was being so careful but it still started to lean, so she hurried and constructed it then we sprayed it with Elmer's spray glue (in hopes that it would all melt at the same rate)...It worked, Calee's pyramid is a rock hard mess of sugar cubes and TONZ of glue. After it dried Daddy took her outside and showed her how to use spray paint, she did a really good job. After the spray paint dried she put glue on the ground and sprinkled craft sand. Looks good enough to eat, don't you think?...Yikes, but all in all "Crafty Calee" had fun constructing this Pyramid.
